Fernando Alonso's decision to come back to F1 after two years away wasn't about securing instant success with the rebranded Alpine team in 2021. But Alonso will be watching as closely as anyone to make sure that this rejigged team - with new management, an unexpected senior departure, and a revised technical team that came in too late to influence the 2020 car very much - is heading in the right direction. This year is about setting the groundwork for a real push in 2022, and Alpine needs to prove it is on the right track ahead of the major rules overhaul next year that it hopes will offer it a chance to vault up the order with Alonso on board.

Für jedes Gemüse & Früchte.....Gesundheiten haben........
Waste of a seat. He had his go. Plenty of young talent side lined because of him. My opinion. .
After the first race , they better do not do those changes , the car is to slow, the previus Renault was alot better.
No bulge mention 😂
❤️ Fernando Alonso & Renault ❤️
Alonso to renault : i want a blue car.. Renault : affirmative
I thought it was al-pine not al-peen
0:47 "Alonso may be 39 years old but he remains as fast and determined as ever" Not sure how you can substantiate that claim
Alonso will outperform the car, and should get a podium or two. He may even get a deserved win if things fall into place in a chaotic race. However, it's all irrelevant for any team as long as Mercedes and Hamilton continue to have a stranglehold on F1. I fully understand Alonso's frustration with being in the wrong car for so long, along with other drivers having the same less vocal sentiment. Such a shame it's all a Mercedes yawn fest with such talented drivers like Max and Fernando and Daniel and Charles being forced into impotence.
Spoiler alert: no it will not.
Not sure why Renault wd drop their name if they had faith
What faith? McLaren has him fit to be tied with great form and a huge power upgrade with MB.
Alonso is the most focused driver ever in F1
Not confident. My feeling is the internal politics and management structure will affect their performance.
This one will be fast let me tell ya.
As a Suzuki fan, you can count on Brivio...
I reckon Alonso will do the same schumacher did: Be great, leave, comeback -> dont do anything special, leave again
Apart from aero, I feel that a very important point has been overlooked - reliability. Renault has lost way too many points from running in good positions during the race but not being able to complete them due to PU failures. This was also one of Alonso's main frustrations with his past machinery. On positives, Danny Ric was able to save tires considerably more in 2020 than in 2019 so it is good to see that the Chassis is making big steps.
Alpine mountains are also not supposed to rhyme with peen yet you say peen over and over again. Alpeen Alpeen Alpeen. Alpine also rhymes with fine or dine.
Alpine is supposed to rhyme with wine not ween. cmon...
Why do you guys call the team al peen? I hate it. It's called alpine. Say the I's name because the e at the end makes it do so.
The colour won’t make it go any faster and neither will alonso. Old past it and a waste of time and money.
True beauty
well atleast they got the most gorgeous car on the grid, lets just hope there's more to it than looks
Everyone seems to dislike Renault/Alpine overall and i never got why, it was one of the teams that i saw getting the most hate since they came back
I'm shocked Alonzo got another F1 ride. The master at burning bridges...
Should manage a 4th pace if they get lucky.
Definitely a nicer Livery than the dull yellow/black.
Let's see. Go Alonso🏁💪 You're the best driver for me.
Huge departure of colour from the title winning Renault days. Im not sure the logic of this Alpine branding.?? I follow most racing series , Can't remember Alpine destroying the competition. Odd marketing plan.
Wow that's a beauty!!!
I love to see teams racing in the traditional national colours, with blue for France, red for Italy, and racing green for Britain.
2:00 it’s right to be cynical about management BS, but Anglo-French cooperation gave us Concorde, so it can be done!
Alpine: Our livery has the simplicity of a flag... Haas: Hold my babushka doll.
Personally I have a bad feeling about this re-brand. If it succeeds great, but if the team fails on delivering better performances I have a feeling Renault could pull the plug. Because it's now the "Alpine F1" division that won't look as bad internally as they can claim that Alpine failed and not Renault.
The amount of ads you run on your videos is what’s preventing me from subscribing, you’re greedy.
Is Alonso really better than Ricciardo at this stage of his career?
I think mc Larne's year GO DAN!!!!
here's the correct question - will Alonso justify Alpine's faith? The team is bigger and more important than the driver, as proven by LH and GR in Mercedes.
Not sure what's "corporate nonsense" about saying there's a strong symbolic gesture of having a duel-national flag livery. This is easily the coolest livery of 2021. I was hoping Aston Martin would do something striking with their livery similar to their Le-Mans cars but nah, it's just a flood of Aston Racing green, with no accent colour, or eye-catching graphics.
Alpine will do well to get 5th again.
Look at these comments, delusional or what. Alonso will never win another F1 race, fact.
I like Davide Brivio became team manager in F1, it felt like F1 have close Relationship with Motogp
No. Easy question.
He has got nothing to loose
I remember when Alonso cried because Petrov didn't let him pass and he wasn't fast enough to pass him by himself. Ready to watch this washed up guy show his true colors once again.
Speculations are fun and the cars are looking good. Man I am looking forward to the racing.
Depends on Alonso how he drives, otherwise may be same as before.
He always drives brilliantly.... irrespective of the car......so i expect the same......and end of the day....he will no longer driving a gp2 engine this time
gorgeous car
Simple answer : No. A history student will say it'll all end in acrimony ;) But F1 fans will be entertained along the way. Kudos to those funding this entertainment
I'm not sold on this team being very competitive with the Mercedes teams this season
An impressive new look but we'll see how it performs. The team should be getting better results by now but perhaps a change of personnel will give them an added boost. I see them fighting it out with Ferrari for 5th/6th.
The battle for 3rd-6th will be tight this year. Ferrari should be making a come back given engine and rear end of car being sorted out. McL are looking hot with Merc power and Key designing the car. AMR = 2020 green Merc. AT will be the under dog poking at the other 3, hopefully making high risk, high reward calls to keep the others on their toes. Mid-field battle looks great. Of course, it all depends when they switch to 2022 if they have not done so already.
Their engine was very fast in power circuits even bettering honda. They have to improve their aerodynamic performance more. But as 2022 gonna be all new aero regulations. I would say they will carry forward the same car for 2021 and focus on engine performance.
No chance the car will be quick enough to give FA on chance to win races sadly..
That looks like a management headache already
At first I immediately thought the main sponsor was Alpine the car audio manufacturer.
on the flip side, can alpine depend on someone who can't control a fucking bicycle?
Sooo... How is Alonsos health?
I hope its a shit show
Looking at the car and thinking... Ligier is back!
Younger drivers😍
here waiting for Aston video
Must be stronger in aero Yea and have working breaks
I don't think any team will not build an improvement version of their previous models. But all the teams will focus quite early on the 2022 car as they will have radical changes. Also, the performance changes that can be done through the season are marginal. So I am expecting a stable season. I guarantee a strong Ferrari as now they build a car based on an engine that they know its capabilities. Also this engine will be improved. I would say 3rd Ferrari. 4th Alpine 5th Mclaren 6th Aston Martin or Alpha Tauri.
a car launch with no car just renders not a great sign. or did i miss something?
No top dog responsible for the team is a BAAD!!!!!! sign. "Shared" responsibility is no way to tackle Benz.
Fernando Alonso may favorite 😘
Lets hope the Renaud engine is more reliable since this is the actual problem they kept having in the past. It is also one reason Red Bull decided to change engine, it kept failing ..... Best of luck to Alpine !!
If Renault were confident in their upcoming success, why aren't they putting their name behind the team? I'd really like them to do well, and the blue livery is beautiful, but I think they'll be in a lower midfield mini-league with the two other teams beginning with A.
Best of Luck Fernando, F1 needs more competition dealing with Mercedes. The now Alpine livery is awesome I hope this car will be competitive and up in front and to say welcome back.
1,5 sec slower then merc.... no one could do it with this car, maybe next season will be less then 1 sec .....
Alonso’s talent? Please! Most overrated driver that consistently ruins team culture and performance. He only takes, but gives very little back to a team
@L. K mercedes built a great hybrid turbo engine......did hamilton help made them to build that much superior engine than any other manufacturer......??? This sport is becoming more and more engineering competition.....nothing to do with drivers now......
@L. K yes ...he is poor engineer....btw shame on those ferrari and mclaren engineers and designers....real shame
@devil's dad just observations mate - no hate. He joins the best teams but never made them any better, just poorer.
Btw.....Rise above hate......
Lmao.....he drove for two of the most successful teams in formula one.....but yeah.....they sucked ......he is bettee than both sir and spinnaw irrespective of the success
Another rebrand, another Alonso's comeback, another failure.
I’m just glad Abitfullofshit isn’t around anymore 😂
Will 2021 Alonso justify Alpine's faith is more like it.
I have faith in Alonso ability, given the right car he will deliver no doubt 😊
A 7 minute long video to say “no”?
You can tell that the narrator is really fat.
Renault's biggest failures were reliability and much worse...pit decisions. It became clear that the car hates medium tyres, but yet they couldn't see that.
Aston Martin, Ferrari, McLaren, are all focus on 2022. For Alpine they are focus on 3022. They are only looking for victories on a long term base. Is 100 years long enough that is the question ? With Renault they were looking to become champion within 3 or 5 years. If Kyvat or Ocon could only act as the new badboys than Alonso could perhaps become champion in 2021. Is Briatore back ?
Hopefully we can see Leclerc and Alonso battle it out on track again. Wherever they find themselves throughout the field in 2021 but for 1st and 2nd in 2022.
5th again lol. Considering most cars are gonna be the same as last season thats prob what theyre finishing at, again.
But they have alonso now.....he will take them to places
Anyone else think this is the prettiest looking grid ever???
U just know that they're gonna do shit coz alonso is going there. Every team he's been to since he left Renault has been a disaster, so will this.
Alpine is Renault, so it will be interesting.
Alpine doesn't need a team principal. They have Fernando Alonso who brings all his Mclaren experience as Team Principal and lead driver:)
I truly hope Fernandos bad luck (and bad choices) are finished. I have every reason to believe that he'll trounce O'con in about the same way as Sergio routinely out drove lance. The tougher these 21' cars are to drive the better he'll do,
Ocon got owned by friendly Aussie Ricciardo. Doesn't give much hopes against Alonso. Will they attract Gasly?
Actually no one has a chance against him in same car
I think they're on their way down
Do you guys even realize how much your Renault-hate bias is showing? You describe them as failures, and McLaren as the next big thing even when the fight between them got on to the last race last season. You're journalists, be objective!
i would laugh my tits off if Ocon will be way ahead of Alonso....
@Timber land if they builds an amazing car....he will be 1 min clear in lead to win races
than they will have build a amazing car
I would laugh my tits off if alpnso will be ahead of ric, vettel, sainz ,leclerc,
Why was the stream so laggy?
I want them to be fighting for 2/3rd but realistically I'd be happy with 4th at this point and aim for 2nd / 3rd next year hopefully the aero team will push them in the right direction I believe in this despite all the "the French will implode" talk from the media they always get even when they've got some momentum and after all Renault did end Ferrari's dominance history always tends to repeat itself in someway so Allez le Bleus
Have Alpine ended the sponsorship deal with DP World? I saw their logo on the Winter livery but not on the official one.
Midfield team. Midfield brand.
@mark taylor ✌️✌️
@devil's dad opinions aren't hate. Since being a solo team renault have been midfield at best. This is just a statement of fact. As for Renault the brand, they've never made ferrari/mclaren/mercerdes quality vehicle's. So that too was a statement of fact.
Any reason for hate????
Great new management team, De Meo getting very involved too. I'm optimistic.
Best looking car so far though
It all depends on Alonso. How he goes. so goes Alpine.
This whole livery gives me a vibe that if Ligier were still around in 2021, this is what they would look like.
i bet that's what they were going for
Definite Ligier vibes. I love the dual flag-livery. The car was always going to be blue with the Alpine branding.
Might not be the fastest, but certainly the most beautiful
